What I did on my Summer Vacation

Took a little road trip with my faithful steed, Banana. We went to the CGA (California Gymkhana Association) State Championship in Hollister, CA last week. We competed in five events and had a blast!!!! I couldn't get an entire week off from work, so only got to go for the last 3 days of the week long competetion. Next year, I am want to go for the entire week and run in all 13 events. I can't wait!

Took a fifth place in one of the events - Speed Ball. In this event, you have to run your horse down the arena, and as you circle a cone, you have to drop a golf ball into the cone, and then run back home. As with all of the events, this is a timed event, so the faster one can get down and around the cone, get the ball in, and come back, the better one will do. If the ball does not go into the cone, you get disqualified.

And here's the kicker - I have always disqualified on this event everytime I have run it in a local competetion. I have never, ever gotten that eff'ng ball into the cone. Ever. I was so shocked that I did, at the State level no doubt, that I almost forgot to run Banana back home. I think I may have cried.

I am so taking home a belt buckle next year.
