Yeah. I think I may have seriously injured myself. It has been 2 days since I had a wreck and I seem to be getting worse, not better.
I went for a trail ride on Sunday morning. There I was, up at Ellen's property (which is pretty much in BFE, it was out in the middle of nowhere pratically. Which I love by the way. I too want to live out the wide open space like that with no annoying people around). Spent the night up there, took Bear with me and had fun, and thought "What a perfect way to spend the last day of my week off from work, trail riding with Ellen in the most gorgeous country I have seen recently. God's country kind of place, ya know?
Being that I didn't trailer Ruby up there, I rode one of Ellen's horses, Cruiser. He's a great horse, and Ellen assured me that he would be great for me to ride. This leads me to say that what happened was like, 85% pilot error and 15% horse. The 15% being attributed to it was windy and a lot of horses get jiggidy when it is windy, and that horses are herd animals and will try to keep up with the herd....
Okay, maybe more 5% horse....
The rest, was all me.
Was going up a hillside on some rocky terrain. Lots of trees around. I let Ellen and her horse Yancy get too far ahead of me. Cruiser wanted to get to where Yancy was, up at the top. In order to do that, Cruiser had to gallop up said hill. I did not want to go up the hill that fast. I panicked and did the infamous "fetal position while holding the reins". This caused Cruiser to lose momentum and start going down backwards. I tried desperatley to hang on, but knew it wasn't gonna happen. I pretty much stopped "riding" at that point and Cruiser did what he wanted. There was a tree, I thought I was marry it, it was coming at me. I missed it and hit the ground. Hard. He was right over me and I though I was going to get trampled. Luckily, I did not.
Cruiser ran off. I laid there for a bit, got to myknees. Saw my glasses on the ground in front of me. Hadn't even realized I didn't have them on. They did not fare too well. Left lens is really scratched up and the left arm of the frames is bent beyond repar. Wearable, but annoying. I got up, walked to the top of the hill and got back on Cruiser, and finished the ride, listening to everything Ellen instructed me to do at that point, to make it a learning experience and all. Oh yeah, and I didn't have a helmet on, so thankfully, I did not hit my head on anything.
So, I hit the ground hard on my right, the brunt of the impact on my right hip. Arm is scratched up, shoulder sore, but the hip is klling me. No bruising on the hip, but have a big fluid filled spot that I refer to as my "butt goiter". It is extremely painful and tender, and pretty much hurts whenever I sit, stand, lay. Whatever I do it hurts. Can't bend without it screaming at me. The only chair I am comfortable in is my chair at work, go figure.
And to make matters even better, I am completely out of vicodin. It's a crime I tell you. I may go to the MD tomorrow to have lmy hip ooked at just to get the RX.
