I just finished watching a really......interesting....movie, called Gothic. Picture Gabriel Byrne as Lord Byron, Julian Sands as Percy Shelly, Natasha Richardson as Mary Shelly and Timothy Spall as Dr. Polidori. It was on Fear.net, under horror movies, but I can't say it was scary. per se, at least to me, but it was good. Hell, it hasd a scene with Byron and Shelly kissing - so yay! It was filled with really, really distrubing imagery. Maybe that's why it was under the horror listing. Cause a few of the images were really quite off putting to me.
So, if you have no objection to repeated images of dead babies, or of a bald, pantless and crazy Timothy Spall/Polidari, then by all means, watch this movie.
I may never get the image of Mr. Spall's naked ass out of my head. God help me.
My second Lord Bryon item is a plea to my f-list. Having just watched said movie, I am reminded of a book I read about 20 years or so ago that I loved a lot. It was about Byron and Shelly, their relationship with each other and how they were stalked and plagued throughout the years by a succubus and/or lamia.
I cannot for the life of me remember what the title of this book is or who the author is.
I think about this book every few years, because I want to read it again, and I'll spend several hours frustrating myseff by trying to research it and never get anywhere.
So, I thought I'd do a shout out here and see if any of you wonderful friends have any recollection of this book.
*gives puppy eyes*
